Comparative energy values of sorghum distillers waste, maize cob and shea butter waste for pigs.

A balance trial aimed at determining the energy values of sorghum Distiller's wastes (SDW), Maize cob(MC) and shea butter waste (SBW) for barrows was conducted using a 4 X Latin square cross-over experimental design. While feed intake influenced (P<0.05) by test ingredients, weight gained not significantly affected (P>0.05). Digestibilities dry matter gross (GE) as well metabolizability digestible (DE) were (P>0.05) dietary treatment. The (i.e GE, DE, uncorrected metabolizable (ME), corrected nitrogen retention (MEn) determined ingredients different (P<0.05). DE 7.19, 6.73 15.54 Mj/kg DM;ME 5.90, 4.79 12.94 Dm established SDW, MC SBW respectively. These have potentials alternative low-energy feedstuffs in pig feeds.
